Summary Shireen Mazari submitted a privilege motion to NA Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Shireen Mazari submitted a privilege motion to Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, demanding an apology from PML-N lawmaker Khawaja Asif for using ‘unparliamentarily’ language against her in the National Assembly.

“I wish to submit a privilege motion pertaining to the breach of my privilege as a Member of the N ational Assembly (MNA) when Khwaja Asif used uparliamentary and personalized abuse of my person in the course of his speech during the budget session on 8 June 2016,” Mazari stated in the letter.

She said: “His (Asif’s) personalized attack on my person was unacceptable and his refusal to apologise further showed his deliberate intent to buse a women parliamentarian by attack her person.”

“I request action be taken against this personal abuse and name-calling by Khwaja Asif. Simply expunging the record is not enough and an apology on the floor of the House is essential,” Mazari added.

Earlier on Thursday, Minister for Water & Power Khawaja Asif sent an apology letter to NA Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq over his derogatory remarks against Mazari.

The PML-N minister earned opposition lawmakers’ ire for referring to Shireen Mazari as a "tractor trolley" and calling her voice ‘masculine’ after she interrupted his briefing on the loadshedding situation.

Asif’s apology was read out by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq in the National Assembly.
