NANKANA (Web Desk) – At least six policemen and a civilian got injured during clash as Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) launched an anti-encroachment drive in Nankana Sahib today (Saturday), Dunya News reported.

The operation was launched to vacate eight kanals of land.

Agitated locals gathered against the anti-encroachment operation in a village near Kot Sant Ram bypass and started protesting against ETPB.



As police tried to disperse the mob, angry protestors pelted them with stones, injuring six policemen. In reaction, a civilian was injured as police resorted to baton charge and aerial firing.



The operation was suspended as police and Auqaf workers were outnumbered by the protestors.



Protestors also damaged Chairman Evacuee Trust Property Board Siddiq-ul-Farooq’s vehicle.

Later, angry vandalised the Evacuee Trust Property Board’s office later set the building on fire. Property worth millions and other records were gutted.



Locals stated that no one stopped them when they were constructing the buildings.

On the other hand, Siddiqul Farooq has alleged that PML-N MPA Zulqarnain is backing land mafia in the area.
