SCBA returns Babar Awans controversial Rs1m cheque

In the wake of the severe flak by all sections of society, Chairman Supreme Court Bar Association Qazi Anwar on Tuesday decided to return the Rs 1 million cheque given to the Bar by Federal Law Minister Babar Awan the other day. Talking to media in Islamabad, Qazi said that Babar gave the check for the Bar officebearers who have now decided to return the check for my dignity and integrity, he added. Qazi told the media that he did not invited the law minister to his office. The SCBA chairman said that he could have taken million of rupees from the President and the PM as funds for the Bar but he rejected any such offer. He said that it seemed as if a conspiracy is being hatched to divide the lawyers. He then disposed off the cheque in front of media representatives.
