ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will hold a consultative meeting with PML-N leaders in Islamabad today (Wednesday) to discuss Panama leaks issue and opposition parties’ demands to probe the matter, Dunya News reported.

The meeting was summoned as the Prime Minister returned home after getting medical treatment in London.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Prime Minister’s Special Assistants Asif Krimani, Tariq Fatemi and others received the premier at the airport.

Nawaz Sharif had travelled to London last week for medical treatment over a previously unknown chronic heart condition.

He went abroad at a time when he is under tremendous pressure from opposition parties to step down since his family members were named in the mass leak of offshore account data from the Panama firm Mossack Fonseca.

While addressing a ceremony on Tuesday, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif remarked that ongoing war against terrorism and extremism being fought with the backing of entire nation cannot bring enduring peace and stability unless the menace of corruption is not uprooted.

He said that across the board accountability is necessary for the solidarity, integrity and prosperity of Pakistan.

“Pakistan Armed Forces will fully support every meaningful effort in that direction, which would ensure a better future for our next generations,” the Army Chief said.
