ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Police on Saturday has stated that million of damages made during D-Chowk sit-in will be paid by the arrested suspects.

According to details, police has asked for claims from the containers and truck owners whose property was burnt during the four day protest by the supporters of Mumtaz Qadri, former Punjab governor Salman Taseer’s assassin.

The claims will be made part of police file and will be paid by the people accused of torching the property.

An estimated 25,000 supporters of Qadri forced their way into the capital from its twin-city Rawalpindi, where they had gathered Sunday afternoon to offer prayers.

The protesters damaged Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus stations and other government and private property.

In a move to block the routes, they also set the trucks and containers on fire which were placed by the authorities, resulting in a loss of more than 40 million to the owners.

Subsequently on Wednesday after dialogue between the government and protestors turned out to be fruitful as the latter dispersed after the matters between the two parties were resolved peacefully.
