Shortened Lahore Literary Festival concludes

On Saturday not less than 52 sessions were organised

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Annual literary festival that was held in a local hotel has concluded after at least hundred sessions by different writers and artists from around the world, Dunya News reported Monday.

The Lahore Literary Festival (LLF) 2016 was supposed to be held at Alhamra Arts Complex on the Mall however, the venue was moved due to security concerns.

Indian veteran Sharmila Tagore, star of the festival delivered a session called ‘Safar’. Late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi’s wife talked about her journey in the Hindi film industry and her illustrious career spanning over decades.

It should be mentioned here that the festival was shortened by a day for the first time in four years owing to security concerns. It was reported that the district administration had revoked the non objection certificate (NOC) given to the organizers. 

However, the organisers and speakers that were scheduled to appear insisted holding of the event. On Saturday not less than 52 sessions were organised while around the same number on the last day.

Other Indian celebrities that participated in the event were Mahesh Bhatt and daughter Pooja Bhatt.

Indian notable personalities that spoke at the festival included historian B.N. Goswamy, films studies expert Ranjani Mazumdar, novelist Sonia Faleiro, historian Tanika Sarkar, journalist Karan Thapar, documentary film-maker Shohini Ghosh.
