KARACHI (Dunya News) – Six officials of police including the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Station House Officer (SHO) and 4 officers were dismissed Sunday pertaining to the case of attempting to abduct a citizen for ransom by officials of the Anti Car-Lifting Cell (ACLC).

According to the details, the ACLC personnel tried to abduct a resident identified as Arif from near a marriage hall. Locals gathered at the scene and encircled the vehicle. The citizens thrashed the personnel and pelted the vehicle with stones. The citizens then handed over the ACLC officials to the police.

According to the investigating officials, the police officers and the ACLC personnel used to keep the kidnapped citizens in Jamshed Quarters and demanded 40-50 thousand rupees from them and their families for their release.

Police Inspector Nasir Afridi was aware of the abduction of citizens. The concerned citizen Arif has stated that the police officers were forcing him to go with them.

Inspector General (IG) Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali has stated that the ACLC’s DSP Irfan Zaman and Inspector Nasir Afridi have now been dismissed while inquiry is being conducted against them.

A case under 393, 365 and 384 provisions was also registered against the culprits at Pakistan Bazar police station.
