Kotli: Tension rises, business shut, arrests made, 'Black Day' today
Azad Kashmir PM announced observing 'Black Day' tomorrow, PPP blocked Nakyal-Kotli Road
KOTLI: (Dunya News) – Tensions are constantly rising in Kotli as businesses were shut and dozens arrested on Sunday. Azad Kashmir PM Chaudhry Abdul Majeed announced observing ‘Black Day’ on Monday. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) also blocked Nakyal-Kotli Road while protesting over the death of workers in Kotli, reported Dunya News.
According to details, the situation remained strained even today due to the clash between PPP and Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) on Saturday that resulted in death of a worker. The business centers and shops remained closed in the city while police and army were deployed.
Azad Kashmir PM has announced observing ‘Black Day’ on Monday throughout the valley. Protest rallies will also be led on this occasion.
The protesters also blocked Nakyal-Kotli Road today and lit tyres on this occasion. They also raised slogans against PML-N. A worker had died yesterday during a clash between PPP and PML-N while 6 other had been injured. Army was called in as tensions continued to rise and police had to intervene with teargas shelling and aerial firing. Police also arrested over 12 people.
Meanwhile PML-N has demanded resignation of Azad Kashmir Prime Minister (PM) Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, holding him responsible for worker’s death in Kotli..
Holding a press conference earlier, PM Nawaz Sharif’s Special Advisor Asif Kirmani said that Azad Kashmir PM has failed to protect the lives and properties of the people. “Instead of getting the incident investigated, Azad Kashmir wants to shift the blame on to PML-N”, said Kiramni. He added that Chaudhry Abdul Majeed has committed a grave crime.
Condemning the raids on PML-N workers’ houses, Kirmani said that the FIRs of the raids on PML-N workers’ houses are not being registered.
