ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Raza Khan on Wednesday said the electronic voting and biometric system is part of commission’s five-year strategic plan while federal minister Zahid Hamid says that the parliamentary committee for electoral reforms hasn’t come to any conclusion.
According to details, the stance of election commission and the government are conflicted over introduction of the electronic voting and biometric system. While Chief Election Commissioner has claimed progress, the federal minister has rejected the reports about taking any decision in this regard.
Sardar Raza at a seminar on usage of technology said the electronic voting and biometric system was experimented during the by-election, adding that implementation is this system is part of five-year plan.
In the same seminar, federal minister Zahid Hamid rejected election commissioner’s claim which resulted in awkward atmosphere during the seminar.
He told that a subcommittee has been formed to oversee the matters concerning the election reforms.
