Malindo is the only Malaysian-based airline to offer direct services between Kuala Lumpur and Lahore

LAHORE (Web Desk) - Malaysian low-cost carrier Malindo Air has announced a new service from Kuala Lumpur International Airport  (KLIA) to Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport from March 3, the Air Transport World (ATW) reported.

The airline would use 737-900ERs for the service.

Malindo CEO Chandran Rama Muthy said this makes Malindo the only Malaysian-based airline to offer direct services between Kuala Lumpur and Lahore, and that it will be the longest route it offers from KLIA.

Malindo has also launched a daily service from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) using Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which is configured in 12 business and 150 economy class seats.

“We expect an upsurge in arrivals from Hong Kong with the new service,” Malindo CEO Chandran Rama Muthy said. The carrier says the new schedule will add more than 1,000 seats a week to the HKIA-KLIA route.

Earlier in December, Malindo introduced a daily 737-800 service to Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The carrier said the new international routes form part of its objective of turning its KLIA home base into a regional hub for travelers in the Asian region.

Malindo, a joint venture between Malaysia’s National Aerospace and Defence Industries (NADI) and Indonesian LCC Lion Air, was founded in 2013 and has a fleet of 16 Boeing 737 and 11 ATR 72 aircraft.

The latest route offerings will mean Malindo now serves 22 international destinations in addition to the three local ones in Malaysia.
