Summary SC issues 48-hour notice to govt in contempt of court case for not promoting Custom officer
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Supreme Court (SC) has on Monday said that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif will not be able to leave if summoned. SC warned that Adiala Jail is spacious enough. The court also issued 48-hour notice to the government in contempt of court case for not promoting a Custom officer despite court orders, reported Dunya News.
The lawyer of the applicant maintained during the hearing that the court had ordered promoting Custom officer Umar Farooq. He added that Establishment Division forwarded the summary to PM but could not be implemented.
Expressing annoyance over the absence of Establishment Secretary, Supreme Court said that PM can also be summoned. “PM won’t be able to leave if we call him here; Adiala Jail is spacious enough”, the court said.
Attorney General Salman Aslam Butt assured the court that a new notification will be issued and court decision implemented.
