Summary PTI lost every single election including LG elections against (PML-N), says Talal Chaudhry

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has failed to support its accusations against the ruling party in NA-122 re-election case before the election commission, Dunya News reported Monday.

The commission has rejected PTI s petition seeking nullification of the re-election results that was held in October 2015.

However, the commission has taken up PTI on Right to Information Article 19-A and summoned copies of electoral lists in the constituency.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) said that NA-122 by-election results could not be annulled under People’s Representation Act Section 103-AA. Bogus affidavits were submitted in the court regarding transference of votes, he added.

The CEC said that the commission reserves right to pursue action against false submissions.

Ruling party’s Talal Chaudhry said that PTI lost every single election including local government (LG) elections against Pakistan Muslim League-e-Nawaz (PML-N).

The commission has ordered PTI’s losing candidate Aleem Khan to present copies of electoral lists used in 2015 in the constituency and the difference between lists of 2013 and 2015, if any.

The National Assembly (NA) seat was vacated earlier on election tribunal’s order after it found irregularities in General Elections 2013. NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq contested the re-election against PTI’s Aleem Khan.

The PML-N candidate defeated the opposition party’s representative in the re-election as well. The losing party accepted the defeat however, challenged the result in the election commission. The party claimed that votes were transferred out of the constituency before the polling day.

However, Sadiq was sworn in as NA Speaker for the second time. PTI s Shafqat Mehmood 31 votes only against Sadiq s 268 in the assembly.

PTI s performance in the local body elections was disappointing for the party. The ruling party won most number of seats in the local government elections in Punjab.
