Syed Sajid Hussain Zaidi, a Pakistan Muslim League (Functional) has been elected unopposed to a senate seat from Sindh on Thursday. According to Sindh election commissioner Sono Khan Baloch, Sept 15 was the last date for filing nomination papers for the seat but until the last minute of office hours no other candidate turned up to file their papers and as such Zaidi emerged as the only candidate. The seat fell vacant after the death of Federal Local Government and Development Minister Sen Abdul Razzaq Thaeem who also was elected on a PML-F ticket.
