Resolving Saudi-Iran conflict: PM, COAS arrive in Riyadh
PM, COAS met Shah Salman bin Abdul Aziz, will visit Tehran tomorrow for bridging gap between the two
RIYADH: (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif have become active to play their role in bridging the gap between Saudi Arabia and Iran. Pakistan’s civil-military leaders arrived in Riyadh, Saudi capital, on Monday and met Shah Salman bin Abdul Aziz. They will also visit Tehran tomorrow, reported Dunya News.
PM Nawaz Sharif and General Raheel Sharif arrived at King Salman Airport, Riyadh, where they were given a warm welcome by Governor Riyadh. Both the leaders discussed the regional situation with Riyadh Governor. Later, PM Nawaz Sharif also met Saudi ruler Shah Salman bin Abdul Aziz and discussed the recent tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran on this occasion, especially focusing the situation in the Middle East.

On the other hand, General Raheel Sharif met Saudi Defence Minister in which he discussed the situation in the Middle East. The meeting also discussed the tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran. Presenting Pakistan’s opinion over Middle East situation, the army chief said that the conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iran has weakened the Ummah. Sources told that General Raheel Sharif stressed upon increasing contacts between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
PM Nawaz Sharif will also visit Iran tomorrow where he is scheduled to meet President of Iran Hassan Rouhani and other important personalities. PM will stress before Saudi and Iranian leaders that they should resolve their issues peacefully in the greater interest of the Muslim community.
Army chief General Raheel Sharif, Advisor on National Security Lt. Gen. (r) Nasir Khan Janjua and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi also accompany the PM on the visit.
