LAHORE/MULTAN (Dunya News) – A woman in Lahore has lost her life due to swine flu while at least six more patients have shifted to teh Nishtar Hospital in Multan, taking toll to 42 so far.

According to details, the hospital management has stated that as many as 20 patients have been tested positive to the disease while reports of 18 others have not been issued yet.

Four people have been fallen prey to swine flu until now however, any campaign regarding awareness about the ailment has not been launched. The locals have soon reservation over inefficient working of health ministry.

Meanwhile, IDO Health Dr. Iftekhar Qureshi assured to have taken steps for the prevention of further disease.

Earlier, swine flu is sweeping through Punjab as one more fall prey to the disease on Sunday taking the death toll to 13 in the province.

Atleast 54 people have been affected throughout the province by the illness until now while 100 cases have been reported.
Swine flu virus mostly attack weaker and less immune people.

In 2009-10, the H1N1 swine flu pandemic spread from central Mexico to 74 other countries including India, killing an estimated 284,000 people, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

More than 2,700 died in India of swine flu between May 2009 and December 2010. Last year, India recorded 218 swine flu-related deaths and 937 cases, down from 2013, when 699 died.
