ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – In a very strong reaction to federal government’s overriding law providing more powers to Rangers in Sindh that annuls the earlier notification issued by Sindh government, Opposition Leader in National Assembly Khurshid Shah has said that federal government may try whatever it can, reported Dunya News.
Reacting to the letter written to the provincial government by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Khurshid Shah asked why Nisar feels shame in talking to Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Qaim Ali Shah? “Is he afraid of Sindh CM?” he questioned.
Khurshid Shah said that things will go from bad to worse with such actions and situation will deteriorate further. He said that Sindh government did not restrict any powers of the Rangers. He asked why Nisar felt shame in talking directly to Sindh CM.
“Nothing will be gained from such actions. They will deteriorate the situation even further in fact”, said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader.
Moreover, Opposition Leader said that Dr. Asim’s case has got nothing to do with the powers of the Rangers.

In the contents of the letter, it has been stated that Pakistan Rangers is working under the Anti-Terrorism Act and that Rangers’ powers cannot be limited without amending the Act.
The letter further says that in order to limit the powers of Rangers, an amendment in the Anti-Terrorism Act is mandatory. It said the Pakistan Rangers is bound to work as per the Act and therefore its powers cannot be limited.
