Pakistan focusing to develop information, communication technology: President Mamnoon

(Web Desk) - President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday has said that Pakistan is pursuing the vision of accelerated digitisation to transform the country into a knowledge-based economy, reported Radio Pakistan.
He was addressing the 2nd World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, China.
The President stated that Pakistan s focus remains on development of information and communications technology infrastructure across the country with special emphasis on serving marginalised segments of society and bridging digital divide.
He said the information revolution has fundamentally altered perception of reality, time and space.
He said in his view the information technology is reshaping the identity, geo-politics, security dynamics of the 21st century and the whole range of other paradigms.
Mamnoon Hussain said the Government of Pakistan fully realises the potential of information and communications technology for socio-economic growth.
He said we consider it as key enabler to achieve sufficiency, transparency, good governance and empowering the people.
Bilateral talks
Earlier, President Mamnoon Hussain held talks with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in Wuzhen.
Both the leaders held delegation level talks and discussed matters of mutual interest.
Opening the conference, Chinese President Xi Jinping called for making more efforts for strengthening internet to avoid cybercrime.
President s participation in the conference will help Pakistan address its cyber security issues and enhance cooperation for beneficial use of internet technology.
The purpose of the conference is to serve as a platform for building a cyberspace community of shared destiny, advocate worldwide respect for diversity and to forge consensus and confronting risks to cyber security jointly.
Delegates from around the world are attending the conference.
In a statement, Pakistan Ambassador to China Masood Khalid said Pakistan s highest level participation in the Wuzhen Summit is a reflection of Pak-China growing strategic, economic and political convergence of interests.
He said with the implementation of CPEC projects on a fast track, Pak-China relationship is gaining newer heights.
