Coast Guards should improve according to needs of time: Ch Nisar

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Interior minister Chaudhry Nisar said on Tuesday that Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) should improve their competence in order to meet the needs of time, reported Dunya News.

According to the details, Chaudhry Nisar said that every step will be taken for the capacity building of Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG). Talking to newly appointed Director General of Pakistan Coast Guards, Brigadier Ateequr Rehman, he said that Pakistan Coast Guards are playing an important role in defending country s coasts against invasion, smuggling and human trafficking.

Pakistan Coast Guards on Wednesday has rescued as many as 22 abducted persons who were on way to Iran through illegal channel.

Details have it that at least 22 Iran-bound illegal migrants were kidnapped by rival agent from a bus which was headed to Gwadar from Karachi. The bus was stopped near Balochistan s Pasni.

Abductors checked national identity cards (NIC) of bus passengers and kidnapped the persons. The illegal migrants hail from different parts of Pakistan.

Spokesperson for the Pakistan Coast Guards has said that strict security arrangements have been made on sea routes to counter human trafficking.

Several Pakistanis have been arrested near Taftan in the past after paying a heavy amount to agents in order to reach European countries via Iran and Turkey through illegal routes.

The FIA arrests thousands of Pakistanis every year from Taftan and other border areas in Balochistan who want to reach European countries for jobs.
