SHC adjourns hearing of Dr Asim's bail plea till December 17

Summary Dr Asim's lawyer told the court that NAB is investigating the whole case.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday has issues notices to both parties for December 17 in Dr Asim Hussain’s bail plea case

The hearing was held in SHC during which the Dr Asim’s lawyer told the court that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials are investigating the whole case. He said that Dr Asim is under the custody of police and it is feared that NAB may arrest him.

Subsequently, the court adjourned the hearing till December 17 by issuing notices to the both parties.

Earlier, SHC on Tuesday once again issued notices to Director General (DG) Rangers, Inspector General Sindh (IG) and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on the plea filed by Dr Asim’s mother.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh heard the case during which judge decided to forward notices to DG Rangers, IG Sindh and NAB officials for December 15 in Dr Asim case.

The claimant Aijaz Fatima requested the court to prevent the Rangers and other departments from exerting pressure on the investigating officer while giving opportunity to the police to freely interrogate the case.

Asim is accused of providing shelter and treatment to target killers and terrorists in Ziauddin Hospital that he owns. After the 90-day remand expired, a case was launched against him in North Nazimabad Police Station. The case involves terrorism sections.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Sindh ruling party, Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) members have also been nominated in the case.
