ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Sunday obtained remand of 3 suspects in Imran Farooq murder case after presenting them before the court of the Duty Magistrate Islamabad, Dunya News reported.
The suspects will be produced before the Anti-Terrorism Court tomorrow (Monday).
According to details, the FIA presented three suspects arrested in Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Imran Farooq’s murder case, Moazam Ali, Mohsin Ali and Khalid Shamim were presented before the Duty Magistrate Syed Haider Shah’s court.
FIA’s Inspector Khurram Shehzad told the court that the suspects are due to be presented before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday and therefore should be remanded in FIA’s custody for one day.
Regarding delay in presenting the suspects before the court, the inspector told the court that it was due to security issues and that Rangers’ services were obtained in this regard.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain was booked in MQM leader Imran Farooq murder case on Saturday while Muhammad Anwar and Iftikhar Hussain are also nominated in the case, Dunya News reported.
According to details, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered a case against MQM chief and senior leaders in Imran Farooq murder case. The case is booked under murder and anti-terrorism sections.
Following the lodging of the case, Pakistan has sought access to the accused and a formal request has been made to the British government in this regard.
Pakistan maintains in the request that the investigation material and access to the accused be provided to Pakistani investigators. The officials have also asked for permission to examine Farooq’s widow’s testimony as well.
The sources said that the British government has assured Pakistan of full support and that the Pakistani investigation team can visit Scotland Yard in the coming week in this regard.
The First Information Report (FIR) was registered with the anti-terrorism department of FIA. The case includes various charges including murder, accessory to murder and terrorism.
All three accused Mohsin Ali, Moazam Ali and Khalid Shamim were nominated initially but the government had decided to lodge a fresh FIR in Pakistan as well.
