Summary ECP has also called the rally in Islamabad a blatant violation of its code of conduct.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) –The rally held earlier in Tarlai, Islamabad by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is being as seen as an outright violation of the rules of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the district administration has registered cases against the PTI candidates for the Local Government (LG) polls. A consultation is underway for potential FIR against the PTI chairman Imran Khan as well.

According to the district administration, Khan participated in the PTI’s electoral campaign held in Islamabad, which is a violation of the ECP’s code of conduct. Notices will be issued to the PTI chairman and all leaders of the party for the infraction.

The cases were registered under section 144 and the Amplifier Act.

The ECP has also called the rally in Islamabad a blatant violation of its rules. The ECP stated that candidates are only allowed to hold corner meetings and that too with prior notice to the administration.

Preceding the rally address, Khan had announced holding the meeting in Islamabad at all costs after which Assistant Commissioner Kamran Cheema had reached Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) House and tried persuading the PTI chairman not to address the rally. Khan conceded after the persuasion. However, PTI leaders had expressed to the chairman that a large number of people had gathered at Tramri Chowk and were hopefully waiting for Khan’s address. Hearing this, the PTI chairman was adamant on addressing the rally and refused to agree with the administration’s instructions.

Khan then made it to Tramri Chowk using alternative routes and addressed the gathering. After the address, Khan took charge of the rally in Islamabad. The rally made its way using different routes to Islamabad’s Sector I-8 where the mass meeting finally concluded.

The administration had earlier barred the PTI chairman from addressing the crowd at the rally after District Returning Officer (DRO) Chaudhry Aleem Shahab had informed the administration of Khan’s plans through a letter and had requested that the administration take action.

The DRO argued that Parliamentarians cannot hold a rally after the schedule for the Local Government (LG) polls has been issued. The administration responded in favor of the DRO’s stance and barred the PTI chairman from holding a rally in Tarlai.
