NA observes one-minute silence over Paris, Lebanon attacks
The 26th session of the National Assembly began in Islamabad.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – A one-minute silence was observed today (Friday) in National Assembly over the deadly terrorist attacks in Lebanon and Paris.
Atleast 44 people were killed in a Hezbollah bastion in south Beirut in a twin bombing claimed by the self-styled Islamic State, the bloodiest such attack in years whereas in Paris as many as 128 people were killed and 180 were injured across six locations around the French capital.
Terming them ‘ruthless and heinous’, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif earlier strongly condemned the Paris terror attacks and said Pakistan stands with people of France against terrorism.
The 26th session of the National Assembly began in Islamabad with Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in the chair.
The chair announced the panel of Presiding Officers for the current session which were Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhary, Mahmood Bashir Virk, Nawab Yusuf Talpur, Mian Abdul Manan, S. A. Iqbal Qadri and Naeema Kishwar.
The government planned to launch vocational programme to train one hundred and twenty thousand youth in the value added sectors including textiles.
Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastgir Khan told the National Assembly during question hour that the government has announced several measures in the budget to bolster the textile sector.
The measures include reducing markup rate on exports finance. He said the textile policy 2014-19 envisages several short to long-term initiatives to double the exports of textile sector from 13 billion dollars to 26 billion dollars.
He said our exports to the European Union have increased by 12.50 percent as a result of steps taken by the government.
Khurram Dastgir said the government also plans to organize a Textile Expo at the start of next year to showcase the country s textile products.
