Mirza has said that he plans to give PPP a tough time throughout Sindh.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) former leader Zulfiqar Mirza’s group caused a major upset in Thursdays second phase of Local Government (LG) polls in Sindh. Mirza’s group snatched power from its rival PPP as it managed a clean sweep from Badin, winning all 14 seats of Badin’s City Municipal Committee. All remaining candidates including some influential ones such as PPP’s district president and general secretary faced a significant defeat as Mirza attained a clean sweep from Badin.

PPP leaders were left stunned as the former member managed to trap the “arrow” in the “bottle“. Mirza’s group also bagged 5 out of 8 seats for Tandu Baghu Municipal Committee in Badin district. PPP won the rest of the 3 seats.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan congratulated Mirza on his success. The rebel former PPP leader thanked Khan for his felicitation and stated that he had decided to join the battle against corruption only after seeing the PTI Chairman fighting against it. Mirza has said that he plans to give PPP a tough time throughout Sindh. Speaking on the Dunya News program “Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath”, the former PPP leader had stated that he would not allow PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari to use the Sindh card.

The success of the group was celebrated with over joyous zeal as supporters came dancing out onto the streets and rallies were taken out to mark the victorious contest. A large crowd has gathered in DC Chowk in Badin to celebrate the win.

However, Zulfiqar Mirza group was unable to secure a majority in District Council Badin while PPP has captured a maximum number of seats.
