Summary The list indicates that 35 of the suspects are members of different political parties.
KARACHI (Dunya News) –The Intelligence Department on Tuesday prepared a report listing 86 suspects that have been implicated in various crimes in the city. The list prepared by the intelligence department, includes criminals linked to political parties, operatives involved in Lyari gangwar and suspects belonging to other illicit groups.
The list indicates that 35 of these suspects are members of different political parties, while 13 criminals are operatives of the Lyari gangwar. 11 workers of the Sunni Tehreek, 16 party workers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), 4 operatives of Mohajir Qaumi Movement (Haqiqi) and 4 workers of the Awami National Party (ANP) have been included in the report.
The report also suggests that the listed felons have also been involved in providing National Identity Cards (NIC) to foreigners.
The developed list further suggests that the suspects included in the report have been actively carrying out illegal actions in the city.
It is also being feared that the listed suspects may also launch terrorist activities in the upcoming Local Government elections in Sindh.
The formulation of the suspect list is part of an ongoing operation in Karachi initiated by Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif in September 2013 to ensure peace and stability in the volatile atmosphere of the city. More than 10,000 suspects have been arrested by the Rangers up until now with more than 7000 weapons seized during the operation.
The operation has been strongly criticized by MQM, which it sees as a ‘targeted operation’ against the party.
