ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chief Election Commissioner said on Tuesday that high courts should avoid interfering in matters of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). He said that lawyers should come to ECP instead of bringing forward verdicts from high courts, reported Dunya News.

According to details, during the hearing of various election petitions, Chief Election Commissioner, Justice (R) Sardar Raza criticized high courts for interfering in election matters. He said that including or excluding anyone’s name from voter lists is ECP’s legal and constitutional right but high courts are giving orders regarding this issue.

Sardar Raza further said that ECP’s judges are not goofing around from 45 years, so high court judges should stop giving verdicts on ECP’s matters.

Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday has extended polling time for local bodies elections in federal capital Islamabad.

The authority has decided to hold elections from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm without any interruption on November 30.

According to ECP, the decision has been while keeping in view voters convenience so that maximum locals can come to exercise their voting right.

The process of filing nomination papers for local government elections in Islamabad Capital Territory began on October 26.

Scrutiny of nomination papers was conducted from the 1st to the 4th while appeals about them can be filed on the 5th and the 6th of November. Appeals will be disposed of from the 7th to the 9th.

Candidates can withdraw their candidature on the 10th of this month and final list of contesting candidates with symbols allotted to them will be published the following day.

Polling for the local government elections in Islamabad Capital Territory will be held on the 30th of this month while results will be declared on the 3rd of December.
