LAHORE (Dunya News) – Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday has said that the government cannot stop National Accountability Bureau (NAB) if it wishes to operate against corruption in Punjab.

He expressed these views while talking to representatives of Roznama Dunya.

Sharif said that metro and Orange Line initiatives are ‘welfare’ projects. He vowed to present the people with leadership in local body (LB) polls that wishes to serve them. Local government bodies would be audited at least twice a year, once every six months, he added.

Sharif said that there is no threat to democracy and democratic institutions as the government is delivering upon the promises. While talking about the big projects by the government in Lahore, the CM said that Metro Bus and Orange Line projects are fulfilling the purposes they were established for.

The CM also termed the successful collaboration between the government and Pakistan Army against terrorism a reason behind deterrence.

Earlier on November 16, Sharif had said that the government is dedicated to complete maximum power projects until 2017. He said that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has ordered the provincial authorities to take steps necessary to curb energy crisis.

Shahbaz said that to address the reservations and issues of the public is among Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz s (PML-N) priorities.

Earlier this month, Shahbaz held a meeting with Turkey investment group chairman Abdul Qadir Turan in Lahore. The Punjab CM had applauded Turkey’s rescue activities for quake victims in Pakistan. He said that Turkey has always assisted Pakistan in difficult time.

He further said that Turkey had dispatched 750 bags of necessary goods for earthquake and flood affectees.

Sharif added that Pakistan wants everlasting ties with Turkey. He said that the incumbent government is keen in enhancing bilateral relations with all the neighboring countries.
