ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Zahid Hamid took oath as the federal minister for Climate Change at a ceremony in Islamabad today (Tuesday), the Radio Pakistan reported. 

President Mamnoon Hussain administered the oath in a simple ceremony attended by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, parliamentarians and other high ranking officials.


PREVIOUS MINISTRIES


After 2013 elections, Zahid Hamid was appointed as Minister of Law in the Ministry of Law, Justice and Human Rights by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. However, as the inquiries and investigations began to took place against Pervez Musharraf, the severe criticism began to mount against Hamid for his role in the state’s emergency imposed by th then President Pervez Musharraf.

Eventually, he directed an application to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for re-assigning the ministry. On 23 June 2013, he was appointed as Minister for Science and Technology by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

In the case proceedings of the led by a special tribunal to oversee the treason case against Pervez Musharraf, the tribunal indicted Hamid and directed the government to add Hamid’s name to the charge sheet.

Upon hearing the court’s decision, the minister had tendered his resignation to Nawaz Sharif .
