Summary Opposition leader in National Assembly Khursheed Shah is supervising the delegation.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A delegation of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Tuesday has left for Malakand division to review the post-quake relief process.
According to sources, opposition leader in National Assembly Khursheed Shah is supervising the delegation which includes Qamar-uz-Zaman Kaira, Syed Zahir Shah, Faisal Kareem and president of PPP in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Khanzada Khan.
The delegation will visit Chitral, Wari and Chakdara and will meet earthquake affectees to pledge support to them.
PPP representatives will pay a visit to Shangla, Timergara and Bonair tomorrow.
Earlier, PM Nawaz Sharif during his visit to Swat stated the federal government will extend full support to local administration in quake relief activities. He said that the whole country is sad over the loss of lives in recent earthquake.
PM Nawaz also announced relief package for the sufferers according to which, Rs 600,000 will be given to the family of each deceased and Rs 100,000 to each injured person. Similarly, Rs 200,000 will be given to the one who lost his limb or any other body part in the disaster.
The Prime Minister said that Rs 200,000 would also be given for the construction of completely damaged houses while Rs 100,000 each for the partially damaged houses.
At the moment, confirmed death toll across Pakistan is more than 250 with nearly 1,700 people injured, and authorities warn that the number could spike with many isolated regions still cut off.
People were reported to be running out of food in many remote areas, with children and the elderly helping to dig through piles of rubble for survivors as they waited for aid to arrive.
The military has been leading rescue efforts, sending in medical teams, tents and rations and evacuating some people by helicopter.
