The ban has not only irked the locals but has also affected the only rehabilitation houbara center.

KASHMORE (Dunya News) – The issue of banning houbara bustard’s hunt in Pakistan has intensified as the people of Kashmore took to the streets today (Sunday), urging the authorities to mull the decision of bird’s hunting.

The students of Sheikh Zayed Vocational Training Institute on Saturday also staged a protest against the ban on houbara bustard’s hunt while the residents of Khanpur also demonstrated for the same purpose and demanded the government to reverse the ban.

The ban has not only irked the locals but also depressed veterinary doctors as the rehabilitation center is feared to be closed if the Arabs will not visit for its hunting.

The centre was made in 1995 when Pakistani government welcomed its Arab counterparts to visit the country for houbara bustrad’s hunt. The Arab royals altogether made strong efforts for the breeding of the bird.

Later, the government of Pakistan imposed ban on its hunting, saying that the smugglers have come up with new ways to deport the rare houbara bustards out of the country for keeping their business afloat.

Further, shutter down strike was also observed in Rahim Yar Khan on the call of Anjuman-e-Tajran against the ban. The protesters said that the ban will not only disrupt Pakistan and U.A.E relations but also the economy of the country.

On the other hand, Supreme Court (SC) also conducted hearing over provincial and federal applications for review against ban on houbara bustard’s hunt but no decision was taken so far.

The Supreme Court had effectively put a ban on the hunt for the bird on 18th of August of this year. The Federal and Provincial provinces had submitted nine applications for review against the decision.
