Mujeebur Rehman Shami welcomes PM's participation in Diwali celebrations
The noted political analyst termed Nawaz's step commendable in the programme, Nuqta-e-Nazar
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Mujeebur Rehman Shami has welcomed and lauded Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif’s participation in Diwali celebrations of Hindu community, Dunya News reported Thursday.
The noted political analyst termed Nawaz’s step commendable in the programme, Nuqta-e-Nazar.
Shami cited Quaid-e-Azam’s address delivered on August 11, 1947 to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan in which he had segregated state affairs from religious practices of different communities. The founder had urged the people in power to provide equal rights to the people irrespective of religion, he added.
While talking to Ajmal Jami, the analyst said that the international powers are observing Pakistan’s peace initiatives as well as Indian PM Narendra Modi’s alleged seriousness.
He said that Pakistan was not founded to fume hatred for non-Muslims and has no such agenda. Shami said that Pakistan stands for sovereignty of the areas with Muslim majority. While talking about Iqbal Day, he said that the government has committed an ‘unforgivable sin’. He said that Iqbal is our national poet and hero and his birth must always be celebrated.
He also said that Jinnah and Iqbal are two personalities who are above criticism and controversies for the nation. Shami criticised analysts who are of the point view that Iqbal did not put forth the germ of a separate homeland but Chaudhry Rehmat Ali did.
He said that analysts who endorse Rehmat Ali as the mind behind the idea do not know much about the Indo-Pak history. He strongly said that such unreliable analysts should not ‘pollute’ the history for generations to come. Chaudhry Rehmat Ali had proposed the name, Pakistan, he added.
Shami dwelled on corps commander conference and said that both the federal and provincial governments need to work in collaboration for good governance. He said that no individual should take offense of criticism and express resentment.
It should be mentioned here that Nawaz, on November 11 had addressed a gathering in Karachi which was organised in connection with Diwali. The PM said that the government fully stands with the oppressed and follows agenda of anti-suppression.
