ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The government has responded on being pointed out on the need for good governance by saying that all institutions have to work in their constitutional bounds, adding that implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) is a joint responsibility, Dunya News reported.
The government spokesperson said the government has taken all steps transparently and that the national interest has been kept on top priority in every matter.
The need for good governance was highlighted in the Corps Commanders Conference on Tuesday.
The government spokesperson said in a statement that all steps taken by the government are transparent and national interest and good governance are on top of the government priorities.
They said the coordinated efforts of the provincial governments enabled success in the anti-terrorism battles, adding that the implementation of successful strategy against terrorism was made possible through a deep political understanding and unanimity.
The government said their steps have been praised on a large scale as well. The statement further reads that the soldiers of the armed forces have also fully fought against extremism and set several examples.
It says the credit of implantation of the NAP goes to the people. The government says that the apex committee and intelligence institutions also played their roles in the battle.

Addressing the National Assembly on Thursday, Opposition Leader Syed Khurshid Shah remarked that yesterday’s Corps Commanders’ Conference has sought ‘better governance’ which is an important hint to the government.
Pointed out the lack of quorum in the House, Shah said, "The session can proceed once the princes are present."
He said the government, during its two-and-a-half years-long tenure, had not learnt to take parliament seriously.
Mehmood Khan Achakzai of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party stated that the government should ensure presence of ministers in the assembly session. He said finalization of any foreign policy out of the Parliament is not acceptable.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has on Tuesday said that good governance is a must for good results. He said that entire nation backs the war against terrorism.
According to Pakistan army’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) department, army chief headed the Corps Commanders’ Conference in Rawalpindi today. The military leadership of the country discussed the professional military matters and the internal and external security situation of the country.
The conference also examined the progress in Operation Zarb-e-Azb. Army chief’s upcoming visit to the United States (US) was also discussed during the meeting. National Action Plan (NAP) and FATA reforms were also brought into discussion during the meeting.
