Summary Most educational institutions, govt offices in other provinces will remain open
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government announced later on Sunday that there will be a public holiday on November 9 on account of Iqbal Day, Dunya News reported.
This means that all public offices and educational institutes across the province will remain closed on Monday.
According to details, a notification has also been issued declaring November 9 as public holiday.
The Sindh government remained undecided on the issue until later tonight (Saturday) when they decided against a public holiday on November 9. This means that all public and government offices and educational institutions will remain open in Sindh.
The private schools association’s chairman Khalid Shah also announced not to close schools on Iqbal Day.
In Punjab, majority of private schools have announced public holiday for students despite Punjab government’s announcement otherwise.
In Balochistan, the public holiday on November 9 has also been canceled revoking its previous announcement.
In Azad Kashmir, all institutions will remain open on November 9.
The federal government had canceled the public holiday through a notification yesterday (Friday).
November 9 marks the birth date of celebrated poet of the subcontinent, one of the founding fathers of Pakistan, Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal who is widely credited for conceiving the idea of Pakistan.
