ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Accountability court (AC) on Thursday has granted time for filing of documents until November 10 after counsels in former president Asif Ali Zardari’s assets case concluded arguments.
Federal capital’s AC judge Muhammad Bashir held hearing of the SGS and Contecna references against the ex-president of Pakistan.
Defense counsel Farooq H Naik maintained that there is no real document of cases against his client. He said that different courts have been hearing the cases on mere photocopies of documents for past as many as 17 years. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was provided documents after completing of interrogation, he added.
However, NAB’s prosecutor Chaudhry Riaz said that all documents required for the verdict in the case have been filed in the court. Riaz said that certified copies retrieved from Swiss courts and banks have also been made part of the file.
The court instructed NAB authorities to file any document the department wishes to submit until next hearing. The judge adjourned the SGS and Contecna references hearing until November 10.
Earlier, Pakistan People’s Party’s co-chairman Zardari had lashed out at NAB for its alleged ‘one-party accountability’. He had warned the bureau of harsh results for pressing the matter too hard in court.

The former president said that NAB should close its offices and turn the material and all record against leaders to PPP’s secretariat for reliable accountability.
On the other hand, NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman had given a go-ahead of five more inquiries against PPP-based politicians including Sindh former minister of education, Pir Mazhar.
