KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Special public prosecutors in the Safoora tragedy case have on Tuesday declined from pursuing the case before even the start of hearing as a protest against Secretary Law’s attitude, reported Dunya News.

According to details, 45 innocent citizens including kids and women were massacred in a bus near Safoora Chorangi in Karachi on May 13. Acting after the incident, police arrested 8 suspects. Among the arrested suspects, 3 were accused of aiding the terrorists in carrying out the attack.

After the arrests, Home Secretary Sindh appointed Muhammad Khan Abro and Mubasher Mirza as Special Prosecutors upon the advice of IG Sindh and sent the letter to Secretary Law. Home Department Sindh had recommended Rs. 3 million as fee, residence in a safe area and Rangers’ security for the prosecutors but Secretary Law issued the letter on October 20, fixing their salaries at Rs. 3 hundred thousand and there was no mention of the other facilities in the letter.

Home department had decided to hold the hearing of the case inside the jail due to security issues and constant threats so that the judge, public prosecutors, testimonies and judicial staff could hear the case under secured environment.

The final charge sheet of the Safoora tragedy is yet to be presented and 2 of the suspects, named Sultan Qamar Siddiqui and Sajid Naeem, have already applied for bail. There is now strong chance of the suspects’ bail plea being accepted since the public prosecutors have declined from pursuing the case.

According to sources, a female terror suspect identified as Saadia is also involved in the group. She was tasked with organizing the Al-Qaeda network by inviting students to the organization.

Sources further revealed that Saadia is wife of a local Al-Qaeda commander and she used students of a private university as accomplices in the attack on civilian bus in Karachi.

The law enforcement agencies are conducting raids in Hyderabad and Karachi for her arrest.
