PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – A seminary’s roof collapse on Friday has injured at least seven students on Bara Road while three have been shifted to Lady reading Hospital due to severe injuries.
A two-storey house was being used as a seminary in Peshawar’s Pashtakhara area. Students used to study and recite holy verses on the roof-top. However, the multi-storey building’s dilapidated condition caused the accident.
The injured include six-year-old Ali and Muneeba, eight-year-old Rafi and Abdul Manan and five-year-old Habiba. Police and rescue teams reached the collapse site after learning about the news.
However, seminary administration said that the children were not injured in the collapse. They ran towards stairs and amidst the activity fell to sustain injuries. At least four pupils were treated on the spot for minor wounds. But, three have been admitted in Lady Reading Hospital due to serious injuries.

Rescue officials have shown concern over the poor maintenance of seminaries and schools. The hospital authorities said that three children have received wounds on heads but are out of danger.

Separately in another incident, roof collapse has claimed a life in Lahore’s Shah Di Khoi. Roof of an under-construction house caved in injuring a person while a life was lost. The house belonged to a local named Ashraf.
The incident claimed life of Ashraf’s son who was ten years of age. While a labourer sustained injuries who was shifted to a nearby hospital. The police handed over the body to the family after completing formalities.
The locals have demanded organization of town administration to halt substandard material’s supply.
