Summary Report by the investigation team will be submitted to CM Sindh on Friday.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Dunya News program “Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath” revealed that the advertisement published against Rangers by Karachi police is an organized propaganda. The investigation team formed to probe the incident held Superintendent of Police (SP) Investigation West Latif Siddiqui and Deputy Superintendent (DSP) Fakhar-ul-Islam directly responsible for the incident. The report by the investigation team will be submitted to Chief Minister (CM) Sindh Qaim Ali Shah on Friday.

The investigation team led by Addition Inspector General (IG) Mushtaq Meher has yet to identify the mastermind behind publication of the advertisement but a decision has been made to keep the investigation open.

The grave incident of publication of the advertisement was first highlighted in the Dunya News Program “Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath” which caused a considerable stir in the high ranking sections of Sindh and the Federal government.

The Rangers Spokesperson has already called the event as a conspiracy against the Rangers. He stated that attempts are being made to undermine Rangers’ performance in front of people, adding that the purpose is to harm the ongoing operation. Rangers’ spokesperson stated that the contents of the advertisements were fabricated and based on lies. He also stated that Pakistan Rangers reserve the right to take legal action against the propaganda built on lies and that the elements involved in the incident will be exposed.

Speaking on the issue, CM Sindh had stated that the advertisement against Rangers was an individual act and that their purpose was to create misunderstanding. Shah also stated that the provincial government had nothing to do with the matter and that the police and Rangers were working together for the restoration of peace.

Former Attorney General Anwar also expressed his views on the matter saying these actions were an attempt to limit the powers of Rangers and were linked to the statements made previously by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders Asif Ali Zardari and Raza Rabbani. Anwar also informed that the DSP involved in the matter had been suspended.

The pandemonium into the matter started when senior veteran investigative journalist Kamran Khan brought the matter of publication of pamphlets to light in his program “Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath” which showed that the police in Karachi had issued an advertisement in local dailies calling for help from the general public in tracing six people who had gone missing and allegedly had been picked up by unknown Rangers’ officials from Orangi Town. The order for publication in newspapers was traced down to DSP Fakhar-ul-Islam.
More than 40 cases had been lodged under Section 365/34 against the Rangers in various police stations of the city including the station in Orangi Town.

Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Sayal had initially taken action on the issue, ordering an inquiry into the event and formed an investigation team with Crime Investigation Department (CID) led by AIG Meher.
