FO expresses concern over Shiv Sena threats to prominent Pakistanis

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Pakistan has expressed concern over attempts to disrupt functions organized for prominent Pakistani personalities in India.

In a statement, Foreign Office spokesman referred to recent incidents, including cultural event in Mumbai by Pakistani ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali that had to be cancelled because of threats from Hindu extremist organization Shiv Sena.

"We have noted with concern attempts to disrupt functions organized in respect of prominent Pakistani personalities on visit to India. Recently, a cultural event in Mumbai by Pakistani maestro Mr. Ghulam Ali was cancelled because of threats from a fundamentalist organization. Attempts were also made to disrupt a function in Mumbai organized for Mr. Khurshid Kasuri, former Foreign Minister of Pakistan," the FO spokesperon stated. 

He said there is a need to ensure that such incidents do not happen again.
