ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has acquired at least 500 vehicles to shift staffers and polling material for NA-122 by-election.
Security is a major concern as Muharram nears. Pakistan Army and Punjab Police contingents have been deployed in the constituency to counter any ill incident.
The campaigning for NA-122 by-poll ended on October 9 midnight at 12am. The ruling party and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rallied on the last day of campaigning. National Assembly (NA) former speaker Ayaz Sadiq will contest against PTI’s Aleem Khan after the election tribunal called for re-election in the constituency.
According to the latest reports, polling material for NA-144 has been sent to Okara under army’s supervision. The army officials have distributed ballots boxes, ballots and other material to the polling staff in district council’s election cell.
The staffers will leave for respective polling booths today.
