Supreme Court resumed hearing of identical petitions challenging some of the clauses of 18th amendment on Monday (today). During the course of hearing, Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday questioned whether the Parliament entitled to legislate any laws and then specify places for public protests over such laws. Additional Attorney General KK Agha told the court that public has given the political parties mandate to amend the Constitution, adding that the court is not authorized to scrap any of the amendment. He also contended that if the new judicial policy is unacceptable then the new government would call for change of the said policy. Justice Javed Iqbal said that the parliament does not enjoy absolute powers. Justice Tassaduq Jillani said that the apex court would make ruling on the case keeping in view its future impact. KK Agha argued that under the Constitution, no constitutional amendment could be challenged in any court.
