Summary Waseem Akhtar says MQM will get a thumping victory, LB polls to be 1st step towards new province
KARACHI: (Dunya News) - Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has on Thursday announced to take active part in the upcoming local body (LB) elections. MQM leader Waseem Akhtar said that MQM will once again register a thumping victory and the local body elections will prove to be 1st step towards the new province, reported Dunya News.
Holding a press conference at Lal Quila Ground in Karachi, Waseem Akhtar said that preparations for LB polls are in full swing in Sindh. He said that the candidates for LB polls will be picked on the basis of merit only. He said that MQM raised its voice for LB system and elections on every forum. “No matter how many conspiracies are hatched against MQM, we will gain a victory just like that of NA-246 by-election”, said Akhtar.
Waseem Akhtar added that the demand for a separate province is the demand of the residents of Karachi and Hyderabad, not MQM. He said that MQM will support the demand by the people.
