ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Ministry of Religious Affairs on Monday has issued fresh details of Pakistani citizens who embraced martyrdom in Mina stampede that killed over 750 pilgrims from all over the world.
The development has come in after Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif issued directives to the ministry. Religious Affairs Minister Sardar Yousaf said that the total number of martyred is 36 while as at least 35 are injured. As many as 85 persons are still missing.
He said that the 35 injured are under treatment in different hospitals in Saudi Arabia. At least 217 missing persons have been contacted. The minister said that the injured would depart for homeland after sound treatment.
Yousaf said that the concerned families of the missing persons, martyred and injured would be kept informed about developments that might surface. A daily press briefing would be conducted in this regard, he added.
Sadly, ambassador in Saudi has hinted foreboding that death toll might rise.
