At least 70 operations postponed, strike in Karachi's Jinnah Hospital continues on fourth day

KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least 70 operations on Thursday have been postponed as Jinnah Hospital’s paramedical staff’s strike enters fourth day.

Around 6,500 locals are deprived of medical facilities since September 14 when the strike was called.

Paramedical staff of the hospital’s child health department is on strike since the start of the week. Dozens of operations are postponed every day. Issues faced by patients have intensified. Laboratory staffers have also refused to submit samples and conduct required tests.

The Outdoor Patient Departments (OPD) are shut since Monday.

The medics are striking for restoration of Health Risk Allowance. The health department attempted to negotiate with the protesters however, they turned down the offer until provision of the allowances.
