ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar on Wednesday said as much as 10 thousand megawatt electricity will be inducted to the system by December 2017, Dunya News reported.
According to details, a review session on energy crisis took place under Ishaq Dar’s headship in which it was decided to speed up the work on Diamer Bhasha Dam.
The three Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) projects of 3600 megawatts were also reviewed in detail. Dar was briefed on north, south gas pipelines as well.
Ishaq Dar on this occasion said that the government is serious to reduce the difference between demand and supply of electricity and that as much as ten thousand megawatt of electricity will be added to the system by December 2017.
Meanwhile, at least three agreements have been finalized between Pakistan and Germany as per which, Germany will give 10 million euro to Pakistan for energy projects.
Similarly, Pakistan will receive ten million euro for restoration of infrastructure in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while forty million euro to build Warsak Dam.
Dar and German Deputy Minister for Economic Cooperation Thomas Silberhorn attended the signing ceremony. On this occasion, Dar said Pakistan is desirous of increasing economic cooperation in various sectors including trade.
It was further decided in the meeting that a microfinance investment company will be formed with help from Germany. The microfinance company will be funded by Germany, British Institute and Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund.
