LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s (PML-N) Khawaja Ahmad Hassaan has been elected Chairman of Union Council 107 unopposed in the local body elections while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has alleged the winning candidate harassed opponents into withdrawing candidacies, Dunya News reported.
According to unofficial results, former president of PML-N Lahore, Khawaja Hassaan has been declared winner unopposed after opponent Muhammad Nawaz withdrew his candidacy.
Meanwhile, Hassaan’s election has stirred things up in PTI as questions are being raised as to how was a rival candidate in Shafqat Memhood and Mehmoodur Rashid’s constituency elected unopposed.
Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmoodur Rashid has alleged that Hassaan and Meher Ishtiaq harassed PTI’s candidate overnight and forced to withdraw nominations.
Another one of PTI candidates in UC 261, Malik Sajjad withdrew candidacy in PML-N candidate’s favour.
