KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Sindh government headed by Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah on Thursday announced an unorthodox compensation package for those injured or killed in traffic accidents; Rs 12 thousand on loss of a tooth, 25 thousand on loss of all teeth, 65 thousand on loss of an arm, 60 thousand on loss of a leg while Rs 2.5 lakh in case of death, Dunya News reported.

The critics and media reports are terming the decision illogical and weird as the Sindh government seems to have put a price on human organs and even lives.

As per the announcement, if an arm is lost in a traffic accident then the province will be liable to pay Rs 65 thousand in compensation and 60 thousand if a leg is lost.

The provincial government said it will be liable to pay Rs 75 thousand if an eye is permanently damaged in a traffic accident and for 40 thousand if a thumb is lost.

If one finger is lost then the government will pay Rs 30 thousand compensation whereas if all five fingers are lost then the compensation will only be Rs 50 thousand.
