LAHORE (Dunya News) – The traders protesting against withholding tax have written to the Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif asking for intervention, Dunya News reported.

The traders are firm on the decision to stage strike and protest on Wednesday and threatened to march towards Islamabad against the tax.

According to details, the traders have called for a shutter-down strike on September 9. The All Pakistan Anjuman Tajiran Khalid Pervez group has even written to the Army Chief seeking intervention.

They sought audience with the Army Chief to convey reservations. The Naeem Mir faction of the All Pakistan Trade Union also gave the unanimous call for strike.

They warned to march towards Islamabad if withholding tax isn’t withdrawn after the strike. The traders have already staged shutter down strikes at least three times before but the government is not willing to show flexibility over the imposed taxes.
