KARACHI (Dunya News) – Dairy farmers in Tuesday afternoon have reduced milk price to at least Rs 84 to Rs 86 per litre after Dunya TV highlighted the issue.

Karachi Commissioner took action in the matter and started a crackdown against farmers. Dairy farmers in several areas have retracted from earlier-set price of Rs 94 per litre. The customers are now getting milk for normal price of Rs 84-86/litre.

Crackdown against people backing unjust price hike on Commissioner Shoaib Siddique’s directives led retailers to supply milk on normal price. A few arrests in different areas seemed enough for farmers to retract from rigid statements given earlier today. The dairy farmers association’s president had said in the early hours today that they do not fear arrests and would not lower price.

The Commissioner has also provided a public-access number to report hiked prices. However, several customers have said that they could not approach any official on the given number.

Retailers in the economic hub have urged the government to maintain pressure on dairy farmers to avoid such acts in near future.
