Summary Why Pakistan held Ufa talks if the country is pro-militants? Hindustan Times poses question
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Indian media has criticised prime minister (PM) Narendra Modi’s policy towards Pakistan which led to cancellation of National Security Advisor (NSA) level talks.
According to editorial published in Hindustan Times, Modi’s policy could only bear negative results.
The editorial criticised Modi stating that NSA-level talks’ agenda and policy towards All Parties Hurriyat Conference’s (APHC) leaders could not lead to anything but venomous outcomes. The newspaper stated that Pakistan’s meeting with Kashmiri leaders was obvious.
The idea of Pakistan holding talks only to hear terrorism-related criticism had false basis to begin with, writes newspaper.
Taking Modi on, Hindustan Times posed a question, why Pakistan held Ufa talks if the country is pro-militants. Modi’s policy has led to an increase in anti-Indian sentiments among neighbouring people.
The newspaper warned Modi against using coercive methods in opposition to Pakistan otherwise fighter jets and commanders would fail to return.
The editorial further hints closing of options for India on international platforms after cancellation of NSA-level talks. The newspaper stated that Modi’s policy is dangerous for India as she cannot approach any international organization regarding issues with Pakistan without giving reason for avoiding talks herself.
