Summary Election commission has issued the notification cancelling Ayaz Sadiq's NA membership
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has on Monday issued the notification cancelling Sardar Ayaz Sadiq’s membership of the National Assembly (NA). He is no more member of the Assembly or the Speaker. ECP has declared Lahore’s NA-122 as vacant, reported Dunya News.
On the other hand, a new legal war has started in NA-122 and PP-147. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that Justice (r) Kazim Malik deliberately delayed the verdict due to which time for filing appeal has also lapsed. He said that Kazim Malik’s decision is biased and justice was not done.
Ayaz Sadiq’s lawyers have raised the point in their appeal against the tribunal’s decision that the tribunal’s decision is not in accordance with the constitution and law. They believe that elections cannot be declared void based on electoral irregularities. They opine that the MNA cannot be punished for ECP’s mistakes.
Meanwhile, Justice (r) Kazim Ali Malik has issued a press note saying that the NA-122 case was of high importance. He said that the verdict was not dictated earlier because it could have been leaked.
