Chaudhry Nisar announces abolition of black-list of ECL

Summary Nisar says ECL was used for settling political scores, names will now be added on court orders only

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has on Sunday announced the abolition of black list in the Exit Control List (ECL). He said that the ECL was used in the past for settling political scores but names will now be added only on the directions of the superior judiciary, reported Dunya News.

During the briefing on ECL, Chaudhry Nisar said that the ECL was used for political reasons in the past but this will not be the case in the future. He told that the right of adding the names into ECL has been taken away from Directorate of Passports and the names will now be added only on the orders of the Supreme Court and the High courts.

Interior Minister told that the people added in the ECL will have the right to go into review. He said that the case will be taken to its logical end within 3 years but those misusing double passport will have to complete the sentence.

Chaudhry Nisar told that the Chinese cyclist kidnapped a year and quarter ago has been recovered. He informed that the cyclist will soon be handed to the Chinese embassy.
